The CDG Play Heart

CDG PLAY This next part of the story begins with Filip Pagowski - a Polish artist who fell in love with Comme Des Garcons some time during the 1980s. In a later interview, Filip revealed that he was initially introduced to Comme des Garçons because his wife at the time was modeling for the brand. She introduced him to some of her connections at Comme des Garçons, and in an unexpected twist, they actually invited him to model for their 1992 menswear show in Paris.
By this point, he’d already started sending Rei some of his work with the hope of sparking interest in a collaboration, and as it turns out, she was. By the late 1990s, Filip had started working with Comme des Garçons in the capacity of a collaborator/consultant, and he would regularly submit ideas for different projects that Rei was working on. One day, while working on something entirely unrelated, an image suddenly popped into Filip’s head, and he quickly jotted it down before it could escape him.

CDG from Tokyo to Global Influence

From its modest beginnings in Tokyo, Comme des Garçons expanded globally, reshaping the world's fashion landscape. The brand’s Tokyo Aoyama flagship store remains a symbol of its artistic roots, minimalist, experimental, and forward-thinking. Internationally, Dover Street Market, founded by Kawakubo and her partner Adrian Joffe, brought the CDG spirit to major cities like London, Beijing, and Los Angeles.
